Apple’s new MacBook Neo is now official. After already announcing six new products this week, Apple just unveiled the all-new MacBook Neo at its special “experience” in New York City. MacBook Neo is Apple’s first laptop powered by a chip that first appeared in an iPhone: the A18 Pro.
Here’s what you need to know about Apple’s newest MacBook
The all-new MacBook Neo is priced from $599 and comes in four colors:
- silver
- indigo
- blush
- citrus
It runs on Apple’s A18 Pro chip and features an advertised 13-inch display with no notch, “2408-by-1506 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and support for 1 billion colors.”

Apple promises up to 16-hour battery life, and MacBook Neo comes equipped with two USB-C ports. There’s no MagSafe charging. A headphone jack is located on the left port side near the front. Two speaker slots appear on the front of both sides as well for stereo audio.
MacBook Neo comes with 8GB RAM with no option to include more. It supports a single external display.

Apple hit a home run for students like myself. Just need a laptop that runs school curriculum, Word, Excel, and Canva...it can just as easily handle entertainment apps like Netflix, YouTube, and iMessage. If I need a laptop for video editing, content creation, or gaming I'd obviously look at a MacBook Pro or other options. I appreciate being able to get a laptop that's better than a Chromebook for under $600 that can handle the basics with ease
At $599, it features 256GB storage and no Touch ID on the keyboard. For $699, storage doubles to 512GB and Touch ID is included. Educational pricing starts at just $499.
The box includes a 20W USB-C Power Adapter and USB-C Charging Cable.
The lower-priced laptop compares to Apple’s new M5 MacBook Air, which now starts at $1099 for a 13.6-inch display and 512GB storage with 16GB RAM. (The M4 MacBook Air was priced from $999 with half the base storage. You can still find it for $899 while supplies last.)
“We’re incredibly excited to introduce MacBook Neo, which delivers the magic of the Mac at a breakthrough price,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “Built from the ground up to be more affordable for even more people, MacBook Neo is a laptop only Apple could create. It features a durable aluminum design in four beautiful colors; a brilliant Liquid Retina display; Apple silicon-powered performance; all-day battery life; a high-quality camera, mics, and speakers; a Magic Keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad; and the intuitive and powerful features of macOS. There is simply no other laptop like it.”
The new MacBook Neo is available to pre-order today and hits stores on Wednesday, March 11.
